'The Boogieman' Story Code '66410' by Chris Ruppenthal

31st October 1964: Sam arrives in the basement of a house in Coventry, Maine, where he finds a book on witchcraft, black mass candles and a black mamba snake. Investigating a noise upstairs, Sam falls down the stairs and knocks himself out; when he comes to, he learns that he has leapt into the body of shlock horror writer Joshua Ray, and that his ‘attackers’ were his fiancé, Mary Greeley and their friend Stevie. While Mary begins preparations for their Halloween ‘Spookhouse’ celebrations, Sam meets handyman Tully Maltin, who is busy repairing the upstairs windows – but then a goat appears and upsets the ladder, sending Tully falling to his death. After Sheriff Ben Masters removes the body, Sam meets Al and learns that Mary’s lifeless body will be found strangled at midnight. As Sam struggles to find the murderer, Mrs Yeager is killed by a snake, while the sheriff is killed in a car crash – and each time, the events are mysteriously documented on Ray’s typewrite. Sam soon comes face to face with the Devil himself – but is everything really as it seems..?
