Buck, Wilma, and Twiki join the avuncular Doctor Goodfellow and his robot assistant, Crichton, on the starship Searcher; under the command of Admiral Efram Asimov, their mission is to locate the lost tribes of Earth, who fled into space following the nuclear holocaust that devastated much of the planet’s surface...
When the Searcher encounters a damaged spacecraft, its sole survivor tells them of a savage attack by a bird-man named Hawk, a deadly warrior who has sworn to kill all humans in retaliation for the destruction of his tribe by a group of Earthmen. The crew of the Searcher tracks Hawk to his home planet of Throm, where Buck is able to capture the bird-man’s beautiful mate, Koori. However, the bird-woman manages to contact Hawk, who immediately arrives to challenge Buck in a battle of strength, wits and piloting skills. But when Koori is seriously wounded during the fight, Buck and Hawk are forced to form an uneasy alliance while they seek medical aid for her. Can Buck convince Hawk that not all humans are evil, or will the bird-man continue to slaughter every human he encounters in his bloody quest for vengeance..?
