'The Impractical Joker' Story Code '9723-Part 1' by Jay Thompson and Charles Hoffman

Holy Pranks! The Joker commits petty acts of vandalism all across Gotham City, ripping up a book, cracking a record and making a sign lopsided. Batman and Robin find the Clown Prince of Crime at Angus Ferguson's rare key exhibition, where he is attempting to steal the Jeweled Key of Kaincardine using a mysterious sparking box; the device proves to be the downfall of the Dynamic Duo, leaving them helpless while the Joker makes his escape with his loot. Later, as Bruce, Dick and Alfred watch an episode of ‘The Green Hornet ’, the Homicidal Harlequin interrupts the broadcast with a televised clue which leads the Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder to a fur salon - and a fight with the Joker and his henchmen. The comical crook runs away, but drops his strange box as he flees; however, when they examine the device the Dynamic Duo find that is nothing more than a diversion to help the Joker to use hypnotic suggestion…
