'Night Moves' by Lorne Rossman

With the city in the grip of a food shortage, the Blackwood team are forced to barter for supplies. Suzanne becomes concerned that the situation is proving stressful for Debi, and decides to take her to the country, to the co-operative farm owned by her estranged mother, Rebecca Owen. Meanwhile, the aliens are also experiencing problems with their food, their central feeding chamber having been contaminated by Earth bacteria. Setting their sights on the Owen family homestead, the Morthren duplicate Suzanne’s step-father and then send in armed troops disguised as government soldiers. Arriving at the farm with Debi, Suzanne receives a cold reunion from her mother, and then strikes up a relationship with one of the soldiers, Paul Fox, unaware of his true identity. Meanwhile, the Morthren scientists begin planting alien seedlings in the farm’s main greenhouse…
