The Doctor

Following his regeneration, the Doctor behaves erratically and unstably. After violently attacking Peri, he decides to become a hermit in order to prevent himself from harming any others, and takes the TARDIS to the isolated asteroid of Titan III. Meanwhile, on Earth, Professor Edgeworth kidnaps two twin mathematical boy geniuses, Romulus and Remus, and takes them to Mestor, the slug-like Gastropod dictator of the planet Jaconda. A squad of ships, led by Intergalactic Task Force Lieutenant Hugo Lang, are sent in pursuit, but are shot down by Jacondan ships; Hugo's ship crashes into the surface of Titan III, where the Doctor and Peri rescue him from the wreckage. Leaving Hugo in the TARDIS, the Doctor and Peri travel to a nearby dome for help, where they meet Edgeworth and the twins, who have arrived there as their stopping off point in the journey to Jaconda. The Doctor recognises Edgeworth as Azmael, a renegade Time Lord who once ruled Jaconda before the Gastropods took it over. Azmael sets the dome to destruct, leaving the Doctor and Peri to die while he and the twins resume their journey. But the Doctor adapts a Revitalising Module to transmat himself and Peri to the TARDIS, and together with Hugo they travel to Jaconda. On arrival, they are captured and imprisoned with Azmael and uncover Mestor's insane plan - the giant slug wishes to utilise the mathematical skills of the two boys to throw Jaconda into its sun in order to create a gigantic explosion that will scatter his eggs across the Universe. After the Doctor, Peri and Hugo destroy the eggs, Azmael sees the error of his ways. He engages Mestor in a mental battle of wills while the Doctor destroys the Gastropod's body with acid. Mestor is now trapped inside Azmael's mind, and the ancient Time Lord forces himself to take his final regeneration, killing them both. The Doctor and Peri return Romulus and Remus home, while Hugo remains on Jaconda to help its people rebuild their world.
