Here they discover a huge, mysterious stone obelisk, and a tribe whose culture is exactly that of Native American Indians. But while examining the obelisk, Kirk becomes accidentally trapped inside, and when he attempts to escape he inadvertently activates a device that causes him to suffer amnesia. Unable to locate their captain, Spock and McCoy are forced to return to the Enterprise, hoping to find a way to use the ship's power to prevent the asteroid from hitting the planet. Kirk manages to find a way out of the obelisk, but on seeing him emerge from the structure, the natives believe him to be a god. Kirk, now calling himself Kirok, is appointed as the tribe's medicine chief, and is then married to the priestess Miramanee. Meanwhile, the Enterprise crew try to destroy the asteroid, but the attempt fails. Time is running out for the captain - but will he want to leave his new-found paradise..?

William Shatner (Captain James Tiberius Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (First Officer Lieutenant Commander Spock), DeForest Kelley (Doctor Leonard H.
