Crewman Norman takes control of the starship Enterprise and orders the crew to set course for an unnamed planet; on arrival, Kirk discovers that the hijacker is an android, and that te rendezvous is with his old old nemesis, Harry Mudd. The dubious trader reveals that after he fled from his last criminal exploit, he crash-landed on the planet and found it to be inhabited by androids built by a long-extinct race. Mudd initially believed that their desire to fulfill his every need seemed like paradise - until the androids informed him that he could never leave. He sent Norman to capture the Enterprise in an attempt to trade the crew for his freedom. But his plan backfires when the androids decide to use the starship to populate the universe with more of their kind, serving mankind and protecting them from themselves. They offer the crew everything they could ever want: Lieutenant Commander Spock is shown a control center which containing all the electronic equipment he could ever need; Doctor McCoy is given a highly advanced laboratory; Chief Engineer Scott is shown an incredible machine shop; Uhura is offered eternal youth and beauty; and Ensign Chekov has a whole planet filled with beautiful young women. With temptations like these, will the Enterprise crew agree to the androids’ offer..?
