In an attempt to reintegrate Scotty and the rest of the <I>Enterprise</I> crew, Spock and Arex set about using the transporter to reverse the unforeseen effects of the prototype cloaking device. Meanwhile, Kirk attempts to single-handedly hold off the approaching Romulan warbird – only to learning that its commander is the same officer from whom he originally stole the apparatus. Seeing through Kirk’s bluff, the Romulan commander manages to send a shuttle through the <I>Enterprise</I>’s rapidly-closing shields; after the vessel crashes onto the hanger deck a squad of armed Romulan soldiers emerges and prepares to take the ship by force…
