Enterprise discovers a severely injured humanoid man. In order to stabilise his condition, Lieutenant LaForge volunteers to connect his nervous system to the wounded man, dubbed John Doe' by Doctor Beverley Crusher; however, during the process, a wave of energy transfers from 'John' into LaForge. 'John' makes an amazing recovery, his damaged tissue repairing itself at a remarkable rate, while his undamaged cells mutate in a manner that the doctor cannot comprehend. Although 'John's' pod shows signs of being in a battle, the man is unable to recall anything from his past; then, when Captain Picard informs him that they may be able to determine the coordinates of his planet of origin, 'John' becomes afraid, somehow aware that he was attempting to escape from there. John's presence aboard the Enterprise quickly brings a sense of serenity to the crew, and when he heals O'Brien's dislocated shoulder with a just touch the captain and crew become even more mystified. However, John soon experiences bouts of severe pain, which frighten him into attempting to steal a shuttlecraft; but when Lieutenant Worf tries to stop him, the man convulses in pain and transforms into an intense flare of light, knocking the Klingon to the deck below and killing him&

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Security Chief Lieutenant Worf), Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Wil Wheaton (Ensign Wesley Crusher), Mark LaMura (John Doe), Charles Dennis (Commander Sunad), Julie Warner (Christy Henshaw), Colm Meaney (Transporter Chief Miles O Brien), Patti Tippo <http://us.imdb.com/M/person-exact?Tippo,+Patti> (Nurse Temple)

Directed by Tom Benko
Co-Produced by Hans Beimler and Richard Manning
Produced by Ira Steven Behr
Executive Producers Rick Berman and Gene Roddenberry

TX:
4th June, 1990

Notes:
*Featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Thomas Riker, Chief Engineer Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, Security Chief Lieutenant Worf, Doctor Beverly Crusher, Councelor Deanna Troi, Lieutenant Commander Data, Transporter Chief Miles O Brien and Ensign Wesley Crusher
