Enterprise is sent to the planet Nervala IV to retrieve data abandoned by Starfleet researchers; eight years ago, while serving as a lieutenant on the U.S.S. Potemkin, Commander Riker and a team were forced to evacuate the planet due to it s distortion field, and it has taken this long for a window to open and enable an away team to beam down. However, when Riker materialises inside the base he encounters his exact double - who also claims to be William T. Riker. The two of them return to the Enterprise, where Doctor Crusher and Lieutenant LaForge determine that they are both Riker; when he beamed back to the Potemkin, a second containment beam was initiated to ensure that he made it through the distortion field, but that beam reflected back to the surface, and another Riker materialised. Lieutenant Riker is overjoyed at seeing Counselor Troi, but she is unwilling to restart a romance that for her ended when her Riker chose a career over love. Lieutenant Riker assists the crew to retrieve the data from the computer system on the planet, but it is not long before the two Riker s clash over their differing opinions - it seems that the two Rikers are each resentful of the other s existence&

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker / Lieutenant William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Security Chief Lieutenant Worf), Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Doctor Mae Jemison (Ensign Palmer)

Directed by LeVar Burton
Produced by Peter Lauritson
Co-Produced by Ronald D.
