Enterprise</I> to urgently speak with Captain Picard. Much to Worf s surprise, K'Ehleyr arrives with a young Klingon boy called Alexander - Worf s son. K'Ehleyr informs Picard that she has come because the Klingon leader, K'Mpec, is dying, and wishes to speak with him; Picard transports to the Klingon ship, where K'Mpec requests his help in arbitrating the power struggle between the two candidates for succession: Gowron, a fierce warrior, and Duras, whose deceit led to Worf's discommendation from the High Council. One of them has been secretly poisoning K'Mpec, and it is up to Picard to decide who the murderer is, and prevent his succession to leader.
