Enterprise sets off on a routine mission while Commander Riker and Counselor Troi stay behind to enjoy shore leave together. However, their peace is soon interrupted by the arrival of Troi's overbearing mother, Lwaxana, and two Ferengi delegates from the conference. After one of the Ferengi, Daimon Tog, reveals that Lwaxana once refused his amorous advances, he abducts both her and her daughter using a transporter beam; Riker attempts to stop them, but he too is caught in the beam and is taken aboard the Ferengi spaceship. In return for her daughter's return to Riker, Lwaxana agrees to discuss the use of her telepathic abilities in Tog's trade negotiations; meanwhile, Riker attempts to summon help, and manages to send a message to the Enterprise using transmission interference. The message is heard by Ensign Wesley Crusher, who curtails his departure to the Academy to take his Starfleet oral exams in order to decode the signal. But as the Enterprise heads off in pursuit, Lwaxana is subjected to agonising mind probes...

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Security Chief Lieutenant Worf), Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Wil Wheaton (Ensign Wesley Crusher), Majel Barrett (Lwaxana Troi), Frank Corsentino (DaiMon Tog), Ethan Phillips (Doctor Farek), Peter Slutsker (Nibor), Rudolph Willrich (Reittan Grax), Carel Struycken <http://us.imdb.com/M/person-exact?Struycken,+Carel> (Mr. Homn)

Directed by Robert Legato
Co-Produced by Hans Beimler and Richard Manning
Produced by Ira Steven Behr
Executive Producers Rick Berman and Gene Roddenberry

TX:
28th May, 1990

Notes:
*Featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Thomas Riker, Chief Engineer Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, Security Chief Lieutenant Worf, Doctor Beverly Crusher, Councelor Deanna Troi, Lieutenant Commander Data and Ensign Wesley Crusher
