Enterprise to the Ramatis star system to collect Riva, a famous mediator who is needed on the planet Solais V, where a bloody conflict has been waged for centuries. When Captain Picard takes an away team to collect Riva he is surprised to learn that the man is deaf; the mediator is able to lip-read, and can communicate through a group of three people called the Chorus, each of which possess a distinctive aspect of Riva's personality, telepathically reading his thoughts and then instantly translating them into spoken words. While en route to the negotiations, Troi and Riva soon find themselves falling in love. Arriving on Solais V Picard and an away team accompany Riva and his Chorus to the peace talks; however, after meeting the two opposing representatives, one of the soldiers suspects a trap - he opens fire and kills the Chorus. Unless a way can be found to persuade Riva to continue with the talks the negotiations will fail - but how can he make himself heard?

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Chief Engineer Lieutenant Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Security Chief Lieutenant Worf), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher), Diana Muldaur (Doctor [Commander] Katherine Kate Pulaski), Marnie Mosiman (Woman), Thomas Oglesby (Scholar), Leo Damian (Warrior / Andonis), Howie Seago (Riva), Colm Meaney (Transporter Chief), Richard Lavin (Warrior #1), Chip Heller (Warrior #2), John Garrett (Lieutenant)

Directed by Larry Shaw
Produced by Burton Armus, John Mason and Mike Gray
Executive Producer Gene Roddenberry

TX:
9th January, 1989

Notes:
*Featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Thomas Riker, Chief Engineer Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, Security Chief Lieutenant Worf, Councelor Deanna Troi, Lieutenant Commander Data, Doctor [Commander] Katherine Kate Pulaski and Wesley Crusher
