Enterprise look forward to shore leave on the idyllic world of Rubicun III. The planet s beautiful inhabitants, the Edo, live in a culture of love, health and sensual pleasure, and their culture has ended all crime by means of a simple law. However, while playing with the Edo children, Wesly innocently steps on a restriced area and is immediately sentenced to death. Meanwhile, the Enterprise is confronted by a mysterious spaceship which appears to exist in two dimensions simultaneously; the crew of the vessel announce that they object to Earth colonistisation of the Strnad Solar System, and then incapacitate Data by sending a powerful beam of light into the android s mind. Beaming to the surface, Picard learns that the ship is the Edo s god; he now faces a tough decision: should he violate the Federation s Prime Directive and save Wesley, or respect the culture of the Edo, and thereby condemn the boy to death?

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Lieutenant Geordi La Forge), Denise Crosby (Security Chief Lieutenant Natasha Tasha Yar), Michael Dorn (Lieutenant Worf), Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher), Brenda Bakke (Rivan), Jay Louden (Liator), Josh Clark (Conn), David Q.
