However, shortly after his arrival he encounters Sovak, a mercenary Ferengi who accuses him of conspiring with an attractive woman named Vash; questioned about a mysterious optical data disc, Picard denies any knowledge of the item, unaware that Vash has slipped it into his pocket. On returning to his room, he is confronted by Boratus and Ajur, two Vorgons who have been following him; they reveal that they are a security team from the Twenty-Seventh century searching for a powerful secret weapon called the Tox Uthat; their history books note that the scientist who invented the device travelled back in time to hide it from criminals, and also that it is Picard's destiny to find the missing object. When a sceptical Picard then finds that he has the disc he confronts Vash; she tells him that it was entrusted to her by an archaeologist who discovered the location of the Uthat just prior to his death, and that Sovak plans to secure the device and then sell it to the highest bidder. Picard and Vash head off on a 'treasure hunt', but the Ferengi and the Vorgons are not far behind...

Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Thomas Riker), LeVar Burton (Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Security Chief Lieutenant Worf), Gates McFadden (Doctor Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Councelor Deanna Troi), Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Commander Data), Wil Wheaton (Ensign Wesley Crusher), Jennifer Hetrick (Vash), Karen Landry (Ajur), Michael Champion (Boratus), Michael Grodenchik (Sovak), Deirdre Imershein (Joval)

Directed by Chip Chalmers
Co-Produced by Hans Beimler and Richard Manning
Produced by Ira Steven Behr
Executive Producers Rick Berman and Gene Roddenberry

TX:
2nd April, 1990

Notes:
*Featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Thomas Riker, Chief Engineer Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, Security Chief Lieutenant Worf, Doctor Beverly Crusher, Councelor Deanna Troi, Lieutenant Commander Data and Ensign Wesley Crusher
