Little John intends to elope with his love, Meg of Wickham, but their flight is halted by Mad Mab, a strange woman who has lost her family of pigs, including her ‘baby’, Rutterkin. When Edgar of Huntingdon - Robert's uncle - comes to Nottingham to visit King John, who has been beset by a mysterious illness, he captures Rutterkin and Mab, accusing the old woman of being a witch paid by Robert's father, the Earl of Huntingdon, to cause the death of the king. The Earl is arrested for treason and sentenced to death, and it is up to Robert and his outlaws to rescue him…
