When Will and Much get lost in the forest after an ambush, they eat some stew at a camp which turns out to be that of a group of white-robed lepers. Robin and his friends take them to Croxden Abbey, where the sacred Cross of Saint Ciricus, a relic said to have mystical healing powers, may cure them. While en route they rescue a desperately ill woman named Lady Margaret from bandits. Meanwhile, Gisburne, on orders from the Sheriff of Nottingham, is on his way to the Abbey to steal the sacred Cross, unaware that his mother is now with the outlaws…
