Even though Jeff knows the man cannot be his dead partner, Jean becomes more and more convinced, especially when Marty demonstrates knowledge of events and things that only her late husband could know, and she continues to see more and more of him. The real Marty is certain that he has seen the impostor somewhere before& but he is not the only one interested in Marty , as two men, Watson and Mannering, are also keeping a close eye on the developing relationship. Driven around by their chauffeur Griggs, they tail Marty everywhere he goes, and even kidnap him at one point. Jeff, more interested in getting the mystery resolved than actually helping Marty out of trouble, tails his kidnappers and helps him escape. Jeff is visited by Watson and Mannering, who reveal that they were involved in the theft of some antique silverware. Jean has now been taken in completely, and agrees to go with Marty to the Oxfordshire hotel where she and her husband spent the first night of their honeymoon; close behind are Jeff and the real Marty. En route to the honeymoon hotel , Marty asks Jean about the accident that they had, saying that he cannot remember the exact location of the event; after Jean points out the spot, Marty takes her to the inn and then leaves. When Jean mentions the accident to Jeff, Marty remembers where he has seen Marty before: he was the driver of the other car involved in the accident. Marty is actually Sheldon, who double-crossed Watson and Mannering and took the silverware for himself; but while making his escape he had an accident with newlyweds Marty and Jean Hopkirk - he buried the silverware in the woods, but the head-injury he received from the accident caused him to suffer amnesia. Jeff finds Sheldon digging up the silverware at the site of the accident; they fight, and Jeff overpowers him, but then Watson and Mannering arrive. Fortunately for Jeff, so do the police - the villains are arrested, and Jeff stands to collect a hefty reward for finding the silverware.

Jeff Randall (Mike Pratt), Marty Hopkirk (Kenneth Cope), Jean Hopkirk (Annette Andre), Ray Brooks (Sheldon ("Marty"), Michael Gwynn (Hyde Watson), Patrick Newell (Mannering), Neil McCarthy (Griggs), James Bree (Innkeeper)

Directed by Robert Tronson

TX:
UK: 28th December, 1969 @ 7.25pm

Notes:
*Featuring Jeff Randall, the late Marty Hopkirk, and Jean Hopkirk
