Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) Cast

Jeff's car is stolen and used in an unusual robbery, when a telephone call prompts a wealthy man to hand all his valuables over to a mysterious visitor. Later, Jean and her sister Jenny arrive at the office and find Jeff in the middle of an argument with Marty over the use of Jean's car. Unable to see the ghost, who still considers the car to be his, Jean and Jenny assume Jeff is talking to himself; they think the combination of lack of work, impending bills, and Jeff's car being stolen have caused him to snap, and so they plant a tape recorder in the office to gather evidence. After they leave, Marty and Jeff resume their argument, but of course when the two women later play the tape back, Marty's ethereal voice is not present; they play it to a psychiatrist, who agrees that Jeff needs help, and refers the case to his partner, Doctor Conrad. Unknown to all, Conrad is the mastermind behind a series of robberies that have New Scotland Yard baffled. Conrad is hypnotising his rich patients and giving them instructions to turn their valuables over to a partner. Marty discovers this scheme when he arrives at the Lambert Clinic to search for Jeff, who has been drugged due to being ‘violent’. After Marty informs Jeff of Conrad’s scheme, Jeff looks for his clothes, only to be caught by the hospital staff and given another injection by Conrad. Under the effects of the medication Jeff tells Conrad about Marty; Conrad is concerned that his operation has been uncovered, and is suspicious of Jeff's claim that he has a ghost for a partner. He uses drugs to remove Marty from Jeff’s mind, and Jeff is no longer able to hear his partner’s voice. Marty discovers that if he mimics Conrad's voice, Jeff can hear him; by impersonating Conrad, he gives Jeff a series of commands to get him out of the hospital, and leads him to the site where the next robbery is scheduled to take place. Telling Jeff that he is a karate expert, Marty uses his friend to knock out the criminals.
