An after-work staff-meeting at the newspaper offices quickly turns into a game of poker, and it isn’t long before the topic of Carl Kolchak’s latest story comes up. As Tony Vincenzo, Ron Updike, Mr Slate and his yes-man Eric Statton listen on, Carl recounts the mysterious details surrounding a young girl’s death during a slumber party, supposedly at the hands of a vicious spirit named Bloody Mary. But instead of facing the usual ridicule, Carl is instead talked into spending a night in the old haunted house, accompanied by his fellow card-players. Some time later, the five of them arrive at the abandoned house, but a terrified Updike panics, driving off in the car and stranding the others, just as a wild storm breaks out overhead. Inside the old house, Carl glimpses a ghostly form in a mirror, and when Statton is attacked by an unseen assailant, his badly-scratched face bleeding furiously, Kolchak realises that Bloody Mary is real, and is using the mirrors’ reflections to stalk him and his colleagues around the house. Karl and Tony collect the mirrors and store them out of the way in the basement, but rainwater leaking inside the house provides the spirit with a means of escape. As the storm continues to rage, Kolchak must find a way to trap the deadly ghost – otherwise he will not last out the night…
