'The Pit' by Jack Miller

A friend of David Vincent, Professor Julian Reed, claims that he has proof of alien infiltration at the Slaten Research centre, but is then inexplicably declared insane and committed to an asylum. Vincent discovers that Reed was working on a dream machine - is he seeing things, or are the invaders somehow involved?
