PENETRATES EVEN THE THICKEST FOIL HAT

Upset that she can’t tell a decent story to the orphans at Cookieville, Leela vows to write her own children’s tale. Exasperated by the lack of peace and quiet at Planet Express, she takes the ship and finds a remote planet on which to find inspiration. Returning with a tale about cute, tiny creatures called Humplings, Leela puts on a puppet show at the orphanage; to her delight the kids love her story, as does a passing cable TV producer, Abner Doubledeal, who offers Leela the opportunity to turn her story into a children’s television show. The first episode of ‘The Rumbledy Hump Show’ soon goes into production, with Leela and her friends dressed in giant Humpling costumes; the show proves an instant ratings hit, and a live tour and huge merchandising campaign quickly follows. However, after winning the ‘Young People’s Choice Award for Best New Kids Show’, the fame and fortune goes to Leela’s head. Then Bender finds out the truth behind Leela’s creation: the Humplings are real, and Leela has merely stolen her ideas from them…
