'Law and Oracle' by Josh Weinstein

FOR THE SOPHISTICATED SHUT-IN

Fed up with just being a delivery boy, Fry decides to enrol in the New New York Police Academy. To everyone’s surprise he graduates, and is assigned to the 19th Precinct with his new partner, Earl. After his first successful bust, Fry gets promoted to the Future Crimes Division, a special department with a Cybernetic Oracle that predicts crimes before they are committed, enabling the NNYPD to arrest the would-be perpetrators before they can break the law. All goes well until the Oracle shows Fry a prediction of a major theft: a priceless bottle of ‘Maltese Liquor’ that will be stolen by Bender! Torn between his duty and his friend, Fry tips-off Bender – which actually gives the nefarious robot the idea and means to carry out the crime. Then the Oracle shows another prediction: of Fry shooting Bender dead!
