Ridge begins to recover from his breakdown, but it is felt that he should not return to duty at Doomwatch. However, when tins of paint are found stored in his garage, Quist suspects that toxic fumes from the lead in the paint may have affected Ridge’s mind, and therefore been responsible for his erratic behaviour. A debate into the effects of dangerous chemical processes begins, and Minister Richard Massingham finds himself personally involved when his son Stephen is kidnapped by a man displaying similar symptoms of poisoning…
