'Rainbow Star' by Daniel Postgate

As Small leaves for a fishing trip in the Music Box, Granny gives him a multi-coloured scarf to keep him warm. Small then sees a bright light in the sky, which leaves behind seven differently-coloured stones that Small catches in his net. Meanwhile, the Iron Chicken finds a metal object in the sky, which she takes back to her nest. Small gives each of the coloured stones to his family and friends, and when he gives the last one to the Iron Chicken they both realise the gems fit into the metal star the bird has just found. Small asks everyone to put their stones in the star, but disappointingly nothing happens; then Tiny realises they should go in the order on her brother’s rainbow scarf, which creates a beautiful, spinning white star…
