The Doctor

The Doctor and his companions are forced to flee for their lives when they learn from the Time/Space Visualiser, taken from the Space Museum, that the Daleks now have a time machine, and are pursuing the TARDIS in order to exterminate its crew. The chase starts on the desert planet of Aridius, and continues to the observation gallery of New York's Empire State Building; the 19th century sailing vessel The Marie Celeste, where the crew jumps overboard when they see the Daleks; and to a haunted house in a funfair. Eventually the two time ships land on the jungle planet of Mechanus, where the Daleks attempt to use a robot version of the Doctor to infiltrate the TARDIS crew. The Doctor outwits his double, but he and his companions are captured by the robot Mechonoids, and taken to a city constructed for the use of Earth colonists, but which now lies long forgotten. They meet an astronaut named Steven Taylor, who is also a prisoner. A pitched battle between the Daleks and the Mechonoids breaks out, and as both sides destroy themselves and the city, the Doctor, Vicki and Steven escape, whilst Ian and Barbara return home to Earth in the Daleks' time machine.
