'Happening' by Brian Clemens

Simpson Desert, Australia: Richard infiltrates a group of men who are dumping radioactive material in the desert, near to the location of a nuclear bomb test. But during a fight his helicopter crashes; Richard is thrown clear and loses his memory. While Tremayne, Craig and Sharron attend the nuclear demonstration, Richard wanders the desert and encounters an old prospector who has refused to leave the test area. Richard struggles to shake off the amnesia, unaware that the machinery nearby is the nuclear device -the countdown is imminent, and the saboteur is still at large…
