Having detected the explosion Spectrum despatches the Angels to investigate, but when they reach Goliath they find the flight deck empty and the plane now under Mysteron control. The Angels attempt to destroy Goliath, but its prototype force field defence system causes the missiles to detonate short. Captain Scarlet volunteers to parachute onto the rogue aircraft along with Doctor Haggarty, a technical specialist from Goliath s construction team; once on board the two men destroy the flight controls, but the plane continues on its deadly course. When Haggarty states that the only way to destroy Goliath is to blow apart its atomic reactor, Scarlet incapacitates the doctor, puts a parachute on him and bundles him out of plane; he then informs Cloudbase of his plan before blowing up the plane with himself aboard. Back on Cloudbase, Colonel White receives a call from the World President, who expresses his sorrow for the loss of Scarlet; Colonel White replies that although Captain Scarlet has never experienced an atomic explosion before, it is still to early to say whether or not he is dead&

Francis Matthews (Captain Scarlet), Ed Bishop (Captain Blue), Donald Gray (Colonel White), Cy Grant (Lieutenant Green), Donald Gray (Captain Black / Voice of the Mysterons), Jeremy Wilkin (Various Voices), Liz Morgan (Destiny Angel)

Produced by Denis Skelton

Release Date:
1967

Released by:
Hallmark Records

Notes:
*Featuring Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue, Colonel White, Lieutenant Green, Captain Black and Destiny Angel

*Story info supplied by Allan Forbes
