They soon discover that Servalan has mined the base, and as they race against time to get outside, Cally is killed in one of the explosions. Dayna and Vila are rescued from the deadly local fauna by a man named Dorian, who has arrived in his freighter Scorpio specifically to find them. Recent events have caused Avon to become colder and paranoid, and he hijacks the ship. But the difficult take-off knocks Dorian unconscious, and Avon is unable to bypass the flight computer, Slave; they are on a pre-programmed course for the planet Xenon. Arriving at Dorian s base, they meet his girlfriend, a beautiful gunslinger named Soolin. Despite Dorian s behaviour as the perfect host, the outlaws suspect that he has an ulterior motive. When Dorian later becomes exhausted, he retires to a cavern deep below the base, where a strange creature absorbs his corruption, leaving him rejuvenated. The strain on the creature - once Dorian s best friend - is becoming too great, and Dorian now plans to turn Avon and the others into a composite being to take its place. When Soolin confronts Dorian with her suspicions, he forces her into the chamber along with Avon, Tarrant and Dayna. However, Vila follows them, and slips a gun to Avon, who then shoots the creature. Dorian s corruption catches up with him, and he dies as a wizened, deformed old man. Avon decides to take over the base.

Paul Darrow (Avon), Michael Keating (Vila), Josette Simon (Dayna), Steven Pacey (Tarrant), Glynis Barber (Soolin), Peter Tuddenham (Orac / Slave), Geoffrey Burridge (Dorian), Rob Middleton (Creature)

Directed by Mary Ridge
Produced by David Maloney

TX:
29th September 1981 @ 7.20 pm - 8.10 pm

Notes:
*Featuring Kerr Avon, Vila Restal, Dayna Mellanby, Del Tarrant, Orac, and Cally, and introducing Soolin and Slave
