But when Blake and his crew attempt to make repairs to the ship, Zen s systems resist them; they realise that only one race could possibly override Liberator s controls: the people that originally built the vessel. Blake instructs Orac to disrupt the overriding signal, but the attempt is unsuccessful, and their attackers board Liberator and take them prisoner. These beings, known as the Atlas, are computer-controlled representatives of the System, and they immediately pilot Liberator back to their space-station. After Blake and his crew are imprisoned, Avon realises that the star-system visible through the prison window is exactly the same as that in Orac s prediction - the future they have tried to prevent is about to come true. They break out of their cell and manage to board the Liberator, but their escape is seen, and the System despatches a sister ship to pursue them. Just as it seems that Blake and his crew are to be destroyed as forecast, the sister ship inexplicably explodes. Orac then confesses that he overrode the ship s weapons systems, causing it to be destroyed, and thereby fulfilling his prediction.

Gareth Thomas (Blake), Sally Knyvette (Jenna), Michael Keating (Vila), Paul Darrow (Avon), David Jackson (Gan), Jan Chappell (Cally), Peter Tuddenham (Zen / Orac), Jacqueline Pearce (Servalan), Brian Croucher (Travis), Sheila Ruskin (Alta One), Harriet Philpin (Alta Two), Roy Evans (Norm One)

Directed by Vere Lorrimer
Produced by David Maloney

TX:
9th January, 1979 @ 7.15 pm - 8.10 pm

Notes:
*Featuring Roj Blake, Kerr Avon, Jenna Stannis, Vila Restal, Olag Gan, Cally, Zen and Orac
