Several millionaires are the targets of staged ‘murders’ arranged by a criminal organisation, in a plan to frighten them into paying out a million pounds in cash in case the next murder is real. Steed attempts to help, but the men are too frightened to talk. Mrs. Peel eventually tracks the crooks down by following the final case of money as it is delivered to the gang, whose leader is Nathaniel Needle. But unknown to her, instead of money, the case actually carries a bomb…
