and Terrance Dicks
When season 7 went into production, John Bryce took over as producer from Brian Clemens and Albert Fennel. However, after making just three episodes Bryce was then replaced by Clemens and Fennell, who decided that two of the completed stories were unsuitable, although one of these, ‘The Great Great Britain Crime’, was eventually recycled into ‘Homicide and Old Lace’ when the tight schedule proved too difficult.
Details of this unseen story are scare, but from what remains in ‘Homicide and Old Lace’, it can be gathered that it involves a plot by Intercrime, an international crime organisation, to steal all the major art treasures of Britain, including the Crown Jewels. By staging a national emergency, they cause all of the treasures to be moved into a high-security vault - to which they have already obtained the security access codes.
The other two episodes Bryce made were ‘Invitation to a Killing’ (later recycled into ‘Have Guns - Will Haggle’), and ‘Invasion of the Earthmen’ (which apparently survived relatively intact)
