In order to investigate, Steed gets Mrs. Gale involved as a shareholder with a twenty-percent stock. Henry Cade, a shrewd and obnoxious businessman threatens to buy out the company, but then the shareholders are mysteriously killed one by one, leaving the company ripe for a take-over.
