Angel Cast

Finding Cordelia and Wesley bickering in his kitchen, Angel accidentally calls Wesley ‘Doyle’ – it is obvious that he feels extremely guilty about his friend’s death. When Cordelia receives a vision concerning a family and their young son, Angel and Wesley set about determining where they live; arriving at the family’s house, they are just in time to save the young boy, Ryan, from sleepwalking into the path of an oncoming car. During the rescue, Angel is injured by the car; the boy’s grateful parents, Paige and Seth Anderson, take him into the house to tend to his wounds. While Angel tries to question them about Ryan, Wesley remains outside to search for clues; he finds a strange fluid on the ground, and takes a sample. Having been invited over to dinner the following evening, Angel rejoins Wesley, and recognises the fluid sample as a substance called Plakticine - a sign that someone in the house is possessed by a demon. They return to Angel Investigations, where Cordelia has been busy researching into Ryan’s family, who have apparently moved house several times over the past few years. As part of a plan to make the demon reveal itself, Cordelia bakes some brownies with a special powder inside them; digesting the substance will cause the demon show its true face. The following evening, Angel takes the brownies with him to the Anderson’s house, suspecting the demon to be inside Seth; however, when the family members eat the biscuits after dinner, the demon is revealed to be inside Ryan instead. Angel takes the Andersons back to Angel Investigations, where they surround the boy with salt so that the demon cannot escape. Unable to find a priest to perform the exorcism, Wesley decides to perform the ceremony himself; however, he needs an Ethros box to contain the demon, as without it, the creature will merely leave Ryan and possess another body. Cordelia heads off for a magic shop to buy the Ethros box, but when the proprietor informs her that he does not have one in stock, Cordelia has no choice but to return with something similar instead. Wesley begins the exorcism, and the demon is pulled from Ryan’s body into the box - but the device cannot contain the monster, and it explodes. Angel and Wesley track the demon to a cave, but before they can kill it, it informs them that Ryan was already evil before it possessed him - the boy’s suicidal behaviour was due to the demon’s attempts to kill its host, because the demon itself was scared of the boy’s capability for evil. Angel and Wesley rush to the Anderson’s house, where they find that Ryan has woken up and locked his parents and sister in their bedrooms and set the place on fire. Angel and Wesley manage to save everyone, and as they escape the burning building, the police arrive and take Ryan away to be placed under the care of social services.
