But after the craft becomes covered in a white web-like substance all contact is lost, and so Carter takes off in another Eagle to search for it. Meanwhile, a small meteorite crashes into the lunar surface, and analysis shows it to be the compacted remains of the Eagle and the two pilots. Carter s co-pilot Kelly goes out on a spacewalk and is also covered by the glutinous mass; after he is rescued by Carter it is discovered that Kelly is now functioning as a conduit for a massive alien space brain that is attempting to communicate with Alpha. But the Alphans are unable to understand the brain s messages, and the Moon is on a collision course; Commander Koenig realises that he has just one choice: to destroy the brain with nuclear explosives...

Martin Landau (Commander John Koenig), Barbara Bain (Doctor Helena Russell), Barry Morse (Professor Victor Bergman), Prentis Hancock (Paul Morrow), Nick Tate (Captain Alan Carter), Zienia Merton (Sandra Benes), Clifton Jones (David Kano), Anton Phillips (Doctor Bob Mathias), Suzanne Roquette (Tanya Alexander), Shane Rimmer (Kelly), Carla Romanelli (Melita Kelly), Derek Anders (Wayland), Sarah Bullen, Loftus Burton, Laurie Davis, Jacqueline Delhaye, Andrew Dempsey, Michael Stevens (Main Mission Operatives), Tony Allyn, Quentin Pierre (Security Guards), Robert Atiko, Michael Sirett (Technicians), Judith Hepburn, Diana Reeves, Erica Svenson (Nurses), Carol Dee (Patient), Marc Boyle, Joe Dunne, Dorothy Ford, Eddie Stacey (Alphans)

Directed by Charles Crichton
Produced by Sylvia Anderson
Series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson

TX:
UK (ATV Midlands):
January 29th, 1976

Notes:
*Featuring Commander John Koenig, Doctor Helena Russell, Professor Victor Bergman, Paul Morrow, Captain Alan Carter, David Kano, Sandra Benes and Doctor Bob Mathias
